I use software developed specifically for stained glass design, so the rendered image is exactly the size you need.  We can collaborate on your design by exchanging pictures, sketches, and discussing ideas in-person, virtually, or over the phone.      glass selection Each glass manufacturer has unique methods and formulas for glass creation.  Essentially, it comes down to sand mixed with minerals to create the unique colors.   Prices of glass are directly related to the colors you choose. Knowing what companies offer what types of glass can help us keep you on budget while getting the color you want. Not all glass is equal and not all glass manufacturers are either!   Different textures can diffuse light in remarkably different ways. Color samples as well as texture samples will be used to help you narrow down from the thousands of options available.     fabrication Most windows that you see in churches and doors are built using Lead Came technique. Stronger materials like zinc or brass can be used in place or in conjunction with lead when more strength is needed.    Suncatchers, ornaments, and jewelry is fabricated using Copper Foil. This method is appropriate when a piece will not be exposed to the elements or extreme temperature fluctuations.   The fabrication method for your piece will depend on its application or intended use.  You can learn more about the Copper Foil and Lead Came fabrication methods and why they are chosen under the Blog tab.   cleaning and repair All stained glass pieces are fragile and they will all get dirty! Cleaning should be done carefully! Using abrasives could scratch the glass and harsh chemical can permanently stain the glass, leaving it cloudy or hazy.    Some glass textures and colors can be espescially stubborn when it comes to getting them clean. Not all glass cleaners are created equal.  Read my tips in the Blog tab for cleaning stained glass.   Professional polishing and/or repair may become necessary. Contact me by clicking on the Contact tab, or find a local artisan for guidance on when when a professional should step in.    services Design, color, texture, copper foil, lead came, glass manufacturer, density…all these factors can leave you dizzy. Glass can look very different in the morning than it does in the afternoon, depending on where light enters. We assist you with choosing the right density and texture for the amount of light diffusion you want and need. Glass variety exceeds 7000 variations,  and we know what type of glass is most appropriate for your application.   Repairs and cleaning are also services provided.
